Apparently, my designation of book love is mostly geared towards paranormal…who knew? I always thought I was all about the mystery.
This book takes my love of mysteries as Charley is a Private Investigator in New Mexico. Well, if that wasn’t enough to spark my interest, she’s the grim reaper! Plus, there’s a delicious leading man that Charley has been in love with since she was like 10, and a vexing yet sexy skiptracer (took me awhile to realize they mean bounty hunter). So is this book an amazing read? Honestly? Probably not. So why am I currently on book three after reading one and two, and the little short tale in between? Well, it’s enjoyable! There I said it. This book is not educational, it’s not a hard read….it’s fun. I know…how dare I read for fun, but yes fun exists. It’s like watching tv in my head. I can picture Charley and her sassy self. I can picture her best friend Cookie. I imagine the amazingly drool-worthy men Reyes and Swopes, and thirst for more.
I suppose the point is if you like a lead female who is sassy, slightly immature, with a dash of seriously? this is the lead? add in two men who you love to hate and hate to love, then mix in some murder and other mysterious goings on…this is for you. If you can’t stand any of the above, run away. Don’t even pick up the cover. You’ll regret it. As for me, I think I’ll keep on reading. I want to know what happens next.
